Recreational enthusiasts in Brockton will love the vast network of trails in the area. The non-motorized trail follows the floodplain of the river, and is favourite spot for walkers and cyclists in the summer and skiers and snowshoers in the winter. Popular access points are at the north end of Jackson Street, or behind Tim Hortons on Durham Street.

Outdoor enthusiasts will also enjoy the Walkerton section of the Bruce County Rail Trail, which runs 82-kilometres along the former CN corridor from Mildmay to Port Elgin. The local section starts at the Brant-Carrick township line just south of Walkerton, and continues through town northwest towards Paisley. Approved uses include walking, hiking, cycling, horseback riding, ATV riding, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, dog sledding and snowmobiling.
